- For 24 uninterrupted hours, 68 participants from a dozen regions divided into 20 teams will have to develop innovative solutions with AI to contribute to the improvement of public services
- They will have to respond to challenges such as the simplification and accessibility of administrative information; virtual assistance and the automation of digital services; the inclusion of Catalan dialects in digital services, and the personalization of content for citizens
- To create the solutions, the participants will have to use the resources generated by the Aina Project, promoted by the Government in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) to promote the use of Catalan in the digital sphere
Espai Bital, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, hosts from today until tomorrow afternoon the Aina Hack , a hackathon promoted by the Government with the dual objective of improving public services through solutions based on intelligence artificial intelligence (AI) and to promote the use of the resources generated by the Aina Project to promote Catalan in the digital world. The hackathon, organized by the Eurecat technology center and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), is part of the Artificial Intelligence Strategy of Catalonia Catalonia.AI through CIDAI and the Project Aina The start of the hackathon was given, after the countdown, by the general director of Digital Economy and Society, Sandra Ruiz , and the Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation, Albert Tort , who agreed to emphasize that ” from of the Government, we start from the conviction that the Administration must be exemplary in the deployment of AI “.
In this sense, the director Sandra Ruiz has affirmed that ” all the initiatives that, like the Aina Project, we promote within the framework of the Catalonia.AI strategy, are based on the ethical and transparent use of this technology “. The director of Digital Economy and Society also highlighted that ” this hackathon demonstrates Catalonia’s ability to gather excellent talent, zero kilometer and committed to the development of innovative and quality solutions based on AI “, and she thanked the participants ” who want to dedicate your time and talent to improving public services and, therefore, people’s lives “. For his part, Secretary Tort highlighted the relevance of events such as the Aina Hack, which are the result of collaboration between the Generalitat, reference entities in the ICT field and global technology companies: ” thanks to the involvement of these partners, today we can say that the Government of Catalonia is at the forefront of a new era in public management, where artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology are tools at the service of citizens “. In this sense, he highlighted the role of the hackathon as ” a space to design the public services of the 21st century “, where innovative ideas emerge that must respond to the challenges posed by the transformation of public services promoted by the Government. The Aina Hack is a competition in which, for 24 uninterrupted hours and in person, the 20 participating teams, made up of 68 people from a dozen counties, will have to develop an AI solution aimed at solving one or more of the challenges following:
- Simplification and accessibility of administrative information.
- Virtual assistance and automation of digital services.
- Inclusion of Catalan dialects in digital services.
- Personalization of content for citizens.
To achieve the objective, they will have to use resources generated by the Aina Project, promoted by the Government in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) to promote the use of Catalan in the digital sphere through a Open, transparent and ethical AI. Aina’s resources are available in the Aina Kit , which includes language models and datasets available to developers of AI products and services and language technologies in Catalan.
Once the solution development phase has been completed, tomorrow afternoon, the teams will have to present their proposals to a jury made up of representatives of the entities promoting and organizing the hackathon. To evaluate the proposals, the jury will take into account criteria such as originality and degree of innovation, replicability and scalability, and the usability and functional design of the solutions, as well as that the participating team is made up of at least one woman . The two winning teams will receive a cash prize: 4,000 euros for the first and 2,000 euros for the second. The Aina Hack is an initiative promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Secretariat of Digital Policies and the Secretariat of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation; organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center – National Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) and the Eurecat technology center, and with the collaboration of the Telecommunications and Information Technologies Center of the Generalitat of Catalonia (CTTI), CIDAI, the center of research i2CAT, Google Cloud, Microsoft and NTT DATA.
